Data Management
Data loss can be common amongst PC users. The Backup Bloke specialises in data management, providing simple and affordable backup solutions to safeguard your digital assets and business records. We also manage data and system transfers to enable seamless upgrades or expansion of your computer resources.

A backup refers to the copying and archiving of computerdata so that it can be used to restore the original after a data loss event. It can also be used to upgrade your system and files onto new computers and provide peace of mind should your computer suffer damage or theft. Data loss events can cause significant stress, cost and disruption to your life or business and often happen without warning. The causes can include events like:

Your data is stored on storage devices which have electronic and/ or moving parts that can wear out. The way your data is stored is also complex requiring multiple system, firmware and software files which work together to manage the location and indexing of your stored data.
Data Recovery is the process of salvaging data from damaged, failed, corrupted, or inaccessible storage media such as internal or external hard disk drives, solid-state drives (SSD), USB flash drive, storage tapes, CDs, DVDs, RAID, and other electronics.
Recovery may be required due to physical damage to the storage device or logical damage to the file system that prevents it from being mounted by the host operating system (OS). Depending on the situation, solutions involve repairing the file systems, using specialised software to recover corrupted data or hardware replacement on a physically damaged disk. Each solution has varying levels of success and The Backup Bloke can expertly diagnose the problem and advise best recovery method.
What if you delete valuable data by mistake??? Typically, the contents of deleted files are not removed immediately from the drive. Instead, references to them in the directory structure are removed, and the space they occupy is made available for later overwriting. In the meantime, the original file contents remain, often in a number of disconnected fragments, and may be recoverable. If accidental deletion occurs, stop working and call the Backup Bloke for advice.

Sensitive personal or business data may remain on your storage media long after day to day file deletion. This occurs because deletion removes references to the data, however fragments of the data remains (remanence) until new data is written over it.
Increased storage of sensitive data and more sophisticated storage media combined with shorter lifespan of IT assets, has driven the need for permanent data erasure of electronic devices as they are retired or refurbished. If data destruction does not occur when a disk is retired or lost, an organization or user faces a possibility that the data will be stolen and compromised, leading to identity theft, loss of corporate reputation, threats to regulatory compliance and financial impacts.
Various specialised Data Destruction techniques are available including clearing, purging/sanitizing or destruction. Specific methods include overwriting, degaussing, encryption, and media destruction. The Backup Bloke can apply the appropriate methods to ensure sensitive personal or business data is destructed at the end of your storage devices service life or in the case of computer theft.
